Alphington ARts

Alphington Arts is a local artist initiative based at Alphington Community Centre that creates and delivers arts experiences across our neighbourhood. If you are interested in joining in our Winter Art Exhibition or being part of the Alphington Open Studios or if you have an idea for a community arts project email us here. We meet on a needs basis to collaborate on specific projects and exhibitions.

Our current online submissions form for the Winter Arts Exhibition from Friday 18th August til Sunday 20th August is available here.

Alphington OPen Studios 2021

In 2021 we partnered with Alphington Open Studios to co-run this long standing community arts weekend at local artists studios, at Alphington Community Centre and in the Gleeson Centre at Darebin Parklands.

ecodyeing

In 2021 to celebrate Science Week local artist Rose Kulak delivered two amazing eco-dyeing experiences from Alphingtong Community Centre using local natural materials from Darebin Parklands and surrounds.

HOnestly

In 2020 as Covid hit one person a week wrote a letter to their neighbours about their experience of the pandemic. 40 copies of each letter were made available at the Alphington Community Centre and the local shop windows on Wingrove Street for individuals to collect and read.

The outcomes of this project included closer community connections as personal experiences were shared … and looking back … an amazing record of the first year of Covid and how our community experienced it.

make your own adventure

in 2021 when lockdowns hit again our map of Darebin Parklands … just down the road … encouraged families to get out for a walk together, be creative, and make the most of our lovely neighbourhood.

Happiness

With support from the Community Bank in Clifton Hill we made these posters at the start of Covid lockdowns … a reminder of how to look after your physical and mental health daily.

200 A3 posters were distributed into the community and are still (we hope) gracing fridge doors and toilet walls!

Mosaics

In 2019 artist Jen Dentoom brought the community together to create a mosaic sign and art works within the grounds of ACC.
