Did you know that the Alphington Community Centre is a drop off-point for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre? We collect non-perishable food 9.30am-3pm Monday to Friday.  Perishable food can be delivered on Thursday mornings from 10am-12pm. Over $50,000 of goods were donated at ACC last year.

ASRC always needs everyday supermarket goods such as

  • healthy breakfast cereals
  • dried fruit, nuts & seeds
  • flatbread
  • long life (UHT) milk
  • healthy snack foods
  • tomato paste
  • tinned sardines and salmon
  • tinned tomato, corn and peas
  • tinned beans and lentils (without sauce)
  • green tea, black tea & instant coffee
  • spices
  • honey (in small jars)
  • dishwashing detergent
  • shaving items
  • sanitary pads
  • shampoo
  • soap
  • toothbrushes
  • washing powder

ASRC also seeks material aid such as

  • Gift cards from department stores such as Kmart, Big W and Target
  • International calling cards (with good rates for Sri Lanka as well as African and Middle Eastern countries)
  • Pots and pans (new or like new – e.g. cheap kitchenware packs at Kmart, Big W, Target etc)
  • Disposable nappies in unopened packs (preferably large and extra-large)
  • Brand new linen sets in unopened packs
  • Blankets (in Autumn and Winter) Please take direct to Footscray as we don’t have room!
  • Mobile phones (new or used, with charger and batteries, all in working order)
  • Selected baby items: new teething rings, maternity pads, nursing pads, nipple cream. No baby clothes or other baby items.
